With approbations by the Divrei Haim of Sanz and Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska and more. Rare Chassidic book which does not appear in Stefanski Chassidut! [3], 39 leaves, 7 pp.
At its beginning, a leaf with a foreword by the author’s sons "Menashe and Ephraim", which does not appear in all copies, including that of the National Library. At its end, 7 pages with a list of subscribers, including rabbis and Admorim such as Rabbi Yechezkel Halberstam of Stropkov, Moshe Yosef Teitelbaum of Zabriv and the approbator, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska. The copy of the National Library does not contain all the leaves with the list of subscribers. Leaves 35-39 include שמעתא דמצוה הבא בעברה in the name of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried [!].
On the flyleaf and title page, dedicayions and ownership notations. including:
– Fine dedication by Yehuda Rosenberger of Papa to his friend Rabbi Moshe Goldshield, from 1933.
– Self-dedication: "ניתן לי לדורון דרשה מאת ידידי ש"ב… אברהם וויינשטאק… הק’ צבי נתן ??? קרויז?".
– Hebrew and foreign stamps of the Gaon Rabbi "שרגא שמואל שניטצלער אב"ד דקה"י בעקעשטשאבא והגליל יצ"ו".
Old card binding, blemished and detached. Stains. Much moth damage and perforations. Detached leaves. Varied blemishes to text, mainly near the spine. Fair overall condition.
The author Rabbi Chaim Yosef Gottlieb (1790-1867) studied in the Chatam Sofer’s yeshiva and was close to him his entire life, and he would bless "בזכות מורי ורבי החת"ס". His leading Rav in the Torah of the Baal Shem Tov was Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac of Koliv, and after his passing, he followed Rabbi Naftali of Ropshitz. After the latter’s passing, he became one of the greatest disciples of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. By the orders of his Rav, the Divrei Chaim, he was appointed in 1841 Rav of Stropkov, where he remained until his passing.
