Shut Chatan Sofer, on the four parts of the Shulchan Aruch, by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel ben David Zvi Ernfeld, the grandson of the Chatam Sofer and his great in-law Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Published by his son and disciple Rabbi Simcha Bonem Ernfeld Av Beit Din of Mattersdorf and his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Sofer Av Beit Din of Bayam – first edition Paks, 1912. [8], 2-20, 110 leaves. At its beginning, the author’s biography and a touching foreword by the author’s son, the publisher of the book. 

Minor stains. Very good condition. 

On the title page, a dedication handwritten and signed by the author’s grandson the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ernfeld Av Beit Din of Mattersdorf (1891-1980) a descendant of the Chatam Sofer. Was considered one of the leading rabbis of Austria and was the president of the Union of the Seven Communities. With the annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany, Rabbeinu escaped to the USA, where he established the Chatan Sofer Yeshiva in memory of his grandfather, the son-in-law of the Chatam Sofer. In Israel, he established the Kiryat Mattersdorf in memory of the Austrian community, He passed away on Shavu’ot and was buried near the gravesite of the holy Admor of Belz.
