Lot 17:
Sefer Ma’assei Tzaddikim, containing novellae on the Shas by two of the greatest Rishonim – Chidushei HaRamban on tractate Avodah Zarah and Chidushei HaRitva on tractate Shvu’ot.
First edition – Livorno, 1779. 4, 176 leaves. Appearing at the beginning of this copy is an additional leaf, not appearing in bibliographic records. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod no. 50 and 54. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.
Approbations by the rabbis of Amsterdam, Livorno, Ankona and by the Chida. Wide margins. Some minor moth damage. Stains. Several loose leaves. Good overall condition.
On the title page, an impressive Sephardic signature: "דב"ש סי’", "ע"ה דוד אברהם חי ס"ט" – Rabbi David Avraham Chai Vivanti ben Shimshon, one of the Sages of Ankona in the 19th century. Author of Sefer Yad David, which is similar to the early book Pachad Yitzchak by containing alphabetically ordered entries.
