Sefer Halichot Olam, the Rules of the Gemore by Rabbi Yeshu’ah ben Yosef Halevi of Tlemcen. The book deals with the rules of the Talmud and the Sages’ methods of Psikah and became a basic book in the field. At its end, Mevoh HaGemore by Rabbi Shmuel HaNaggid.
Printed in Mantova, 1593. 40 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Introduction with a fine poem by the author, who reltaes his biography in short: "…בשנת חמשת אלפים ורכ"ז ליצירה חרה אף ה’ בעמו וישלח בם משלחת מלאכי רעים… ויצאתי אני מתוך ההפכה ועזבתי בית מדרשי ד’ אמות של הלכה ובאתי בארץ קאשטילייא להמלט נפשי…".
Small format: 20X14 cm. Detached binding. Stains. Some moth perforations. Minor stains. The title page is stained by ya faded stamp. Good, rare overall condition.
Sephardic notation on the title page/ Foreign notations on the title page and the last page. A single handwritten gloss on the margins of leaf 6 – all these have not been thoroughly studied.
