“During the days of the Omer, he will be saved from gezeiros kal v’chomer”. Postcard written by hand and signed by Rabbi Shraga Feivush Ashkenazi, father of Rabbi Yosef Ashkenazi, who was also an assistant to the Admor Divrei Yoel of Satmar. Addressed to Rabbi Chaim Brody, Rabbi of Prague, regarding business matters.
“To awaken more via the telephone, the Lord … secretary of the Jewish National Committee, … chas v’, regarding the matter he began”. He contacts Rabbi Brody requesting he contact the secretary of the Jewish National Committee, regarding a matter—demonstrates how difficult it was for Rav Ashkenazi to require the assistance of Prague’s business community…
Rabbi Shraga Feivush Ashkenazi was born in Tzfat, travelled as a Shadar of Tzfat to Europe, where he met the Admor of Satmar, who was a relative, and became a devoted chassid of his. He served as his assistant until he was murdered in the Shoah. His son succeeded him as secretary to the Admor.
