Letter from the 4th day of the legal controversy from 1920, on official letterhead of Rabbi Chanoch, with his address in Warsaw, written entirely by hand and signed, to Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Yosef Haim Zonenfeld, regarding a request to get an apartment for Bentzion Yafeh, and in the margins he adds: “And I came to raise an issue that the argument needs to be quieted…” Rabbi Chanoch lived 1870-1935, was rabbi of Bendin and leader of Polish Jewry before WWII. Son-in-law of the Admor of Gur, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, the Sfat Emet. In 1924, he participated in a delegation to Israel led by his brother-in-law, the Admor of Gur, the Imrei Emet. The Admor of Sokolov and his son Yitzhak Meir Levin went with the goal of making peace in the disagreement that broke out between the Haredi community in Jerusalem and Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak HaKohen Kook, and it seems this letter mentions that issue and was sent after this visit.
