Bill from the Ashkenazi Beit Din in Tzfat, “Rav Chassid Nachman Parit of Serit (Siret, Romania) came, I sold and transferred my place in the Beit Midrash of the Admor of Vizhnitz (Rabbi Baruch Heger of Vizhnitz, the Imrei Baruch) between the fireplace and the left column. 15th of Tammuz 1891.” On the bill are signed Rabbi David, Ba’avad of Saniatyn and Rabbi Refael Zilberman. 28x23cm. Generally very good condition. Rabbi David Meir Ba’avad ben Rabbi Yosef, the Minchat Chinuch. His mother was sister of Rabbi Haim of Sanz, the Divrei Haim. Served as Av Beit Din of Saniatyn and Rabbi of Provizna before 1888, he moved to Israel and settled in Tzfat, where he died in 1894, he is buried next to the Arizal. Rabbi Refael Zilberman (known as Rabbi Refael Dayan, 1839-1917), moved to Israel in 1850 from Uman, his birthplace in Ukraine, with his parents, and settled in Tzfat, where he served under his father, and took his position when he died as Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of the city. Served as a dayan of the Ashkenazi community.
