Lot 176:
A silver tobacco case used by the Sidna Baba Sali. In the book Baba Sali, section 2, by Rav Eliyahu Elfasi, the Baba Sali’s assistant, on page 57 Rav Elfasi mentions things that he heard from the Baba Sali about the importance of tobacco among the righteous: “Rabbeinu said that when his father, Rabbeinu Masoud, was young, he asked his father, Rabbeinu Yaakov, to teach him kabbalah and the writings of the Arizal…and Rabbeinu Masoud became a great expert in kabbalah and mysticism and the siddur and all the kavanot of the tfila, and his grandfather told him that of all the kavanot, he was most prepared for study when he smelled tobacco.” The Admor Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzira, the Baba Sali (1889-1984), son of Rabbi Masoud, Rabbi of Tafilalt (Morocco), son of the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Abuhatzira, a genius of both the revealed and mystical Torah, holy and pure from his youth. Served as Chief Rabbi of Erfoud and its surroundings. In 1964 he moved to Israel and settled in Netivot. Many great people travelled to his home to receive advice and blessings from him, and he was known as a miracle-worker. His grandsons are the famous Admorim of the Abuhatzira family. 6x4cm, its front side has a monogrammed engraved with two letter. Sold together with a picture, on the back with a signed approval notice from one of the heads of the Abuhatzira family, who received the case from the Baba Sali’s hands.
