פריט 153:
Written for the wedding and appointment of Rav Milevsky Shamid in place of his father-in-law as Ga’avad of Alita. Rav Play calls him Ga’avad of Alita in the letter, when he was only 26 years old! Rav Aharon Milevsky (1904-1986) was born in Alita (Lithuania), son of Moshe Milevsky. He studed in Grodna and then Slobodka. He was appointed one of the bochrim sent from Slobodka to found the Hevron yeshiva, in 1924. In 1929, a month before the massacre in Hevron, he returned to Alita and was married to Piya, the daughter of the rabbi of Alita, Rav David Nachman Kolidsky, who had died four years earlier. Immediately after his wedding, in 1930, when he was 26, he was appointed rabbi of Alita. In 1938, after 8 years in the rabbinate, he was asked by Rav Avraham Dov Kahane Shapira to leave his position to serve in the rabbinate of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. He settled there and founded the Va’ad HaIr for Religious Affairs. In 1970, after he retired, he moved to Israel and settled in Jerusalem. | Signs of folding, generally good condition.
