פריט 143:
Exciting historical document, endorsement of the community of Vercelli, Italy to accept Rabbi Chaim Segari as Mara d’Atra. Probably a draft of the letter of coronation. In the margins, in a different handwriting, names of those praying at the synagogue are listed and where they sit. On the other side are instructions on determining places for seating. Italian handwriting, a lone page, folded paper written in two columns. 18x27cm. Rabbi Chaim Segari is probably the same rabbi Chaim Segari sent in 1666 to seek out the dismissal of Shabtai Zvi. His son, Rabbi Elisha Segardi, was rabbi of Vercelli. See “History of the Jewish Sages and Geonim of Italy,” p. 107, note 6. Stains, generally very good condition.
