Around 200 loan notes—exciting documents shedding light on old Bnei Brak, with evidence of loans given to large companies and bodies like the Bnei Brak municipality, the Tnuva company, and investment houses and many private individuals, from 1957 approximately. Interesting signature on one of the bills by Rabb Zalman Rothberg (see below), and signature of the kabbalist Rabbi Haim David Stern on a loan taken by the Gamach Hachnasat Kala, Y.Z. Stern, by the father of Rabbi Yisrael Zecharya (see below). Size: 7x14cm. Rabbi Zalman Rothberg (1913-2002) was the head of the Beit Meir yeshiva in Bnei Brak and member of the Council of Torah Sages of Degel HaTorah. Served as Ram in the Mir yeshiva for many years, authored “Mishnat Tuvya” in 1989 on Talmudic masechtot and Tov Da’at on mussar. The kabbalist Rabbi Haim David Stern was the father of Rabbi Yisrael Zecharya, known givers of tzedakah and chesed in Bnei Brak. Rabbi Haim David was the owner of a well-known and mythological flour mill in Sokolov Street, Bnei Brak, founder of the tzedakah organization of the Chazon Ish Kollel, and a student of the Chazon Ish and the Steipler, the Beit Yisrael of Gur, and more, known as a miracle-worker. Father of Rabbi Yisrael Zecharya, an important Breslever.
