“A special article by the Rabbi and Kabbalist Rabbeinu Moshe Cordiviro, reprinted here with a terrible note about our time.” Printed in Shanghai by Jews who fled there during the Shoah—a facsimile of the Vilna edition of 1927, with the addition called “Acharit HaYamim” about the Shoah experienced by their brothers. The National Library includes it in the Rare Books section. At the end is Igeret HaGra and the Tshuva of Rabbeinu Yona. Miniature edition, [1], 6 pages, 32, [1], 15-19 pages. Original binding is detached, front binding is mostly detached from the spine, slight stains, generally good condition. Blank front page has a long dedication with an acrostic “Dov ben Asher”, to celebrate his marriage (see below). Dated to Adar II, 1948. Dedication authored by Moshe Salas, see below.

Receiver: Rabbi Dov Sternbuch of Gateshead and Bnei Brak was the son of Rabbi Asher of London, a descendent of the Gra. He was a huge talmid chacham who knew the Shas by heart. He was close with many sages, and was a student of the Gra”a Dessler. He had a special relationship with Maran Rabbi Haim Kanievsky, who forbid him from asking those at his beit midrash not to stand in his honor. He was brother of the Ra’avad of Antwerp, Rabbi Eliyahu Sternbuch, and the Ra’avad of the Charedi community, Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch. Died in 1990 when he was on his way to Minchah, aged 96.

Writer: Rabbi Moshe Salas, known as the Chafetz Haim HaKatan, since he was his student and was very strict with discipline regarding Lashon Hara, and he would plug his ears from hearing any kind of hint of gossip. Among his students were the Gahatz Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Schneider, head of the Toras Emes yeshiva in London. Died in Shvat 2011. Among his son-in-laws is the Garshaz Ulman of Bnei Brak, a dayan in the Beit Din of the Grash Wosner.
