Lot of 2 volumes containing three books of Shut by the Chatam Sofer (Rabbeinu Moshe Sofer).
1. Yoreh De’ah, Question and Answers by the Chatam Sofer. With the introduction “Pituchei Chotam”, first edition of this important book. Pressburg 1841. [4], 153 [6] pages. Stefanski Sifrei Yesod 311. A number of first pages are professionally taped, as well as tape in the indices at the end of the book, stains, old binding, generally good condition. Cover and body of the book have a number of stamps and signatures of ownership: “Yehezkel Segel Jungreiz” and “Yitzhak Zvi HaLevi Jungreiz”. A number of signatures with this name, see below. Number of long notes handwritten in the body of the book as well.
2. Orech Hayyim, printed in Vienna and Budapest as listed on the cover, but otherwise a stereotype printing according to the earlier (1855) Pressburg printing apart from a few typographic changes on the cover. Bound together with the 6th section—collection of Questions and Answers printed in Vienna 1911, stereotype printing of the Pressburg 1858 edition. [2], 78, 64 pages. Separate cover for the 6th section. Old binding is preserved, defect on the edge of the spine, repaired tear along the cover, light tears, stains, generally good condition. Cover and blank first page feature an important signature and stamp: “Yehezkel Segel Jungreiz.” Stamp covers an earlier stamp: “Yaakov Zvi Arnberg Jerusalem, Shmuel HaNavi Street”. Rabbi Yitzhak Zvi Junreiz of Kosoy (1870-1923) was the son of Rabbi Moshe, a student of his uncle Rabbi Shmuel David Jungreiz, and he studied under the Yeitev Lev of Sighet as well. Son-in-law of Rabbi David Zeltzer of Munkatch. He was rabbi in Nir-Medias in 1889, and in Kosoy in 1906 in place of his father, as well as leading the yeshiva there. He published articles in Vayilaket Yosef—Munkatch-Paks-Bonihad 1899-1917). Mentioned in the Neta Sorek, Levushei Mordechai. His son, Rabbi Yehezkel HaLevi Jungreiz (died in 1944) was the son-in-law of Rabbi Noach Baruch Fisher of Parshov (Rabbi Noach Baruch Fitz). He worked in Parshov next to his father-in-law and then alongside Rabbi Moshe Haim Lau. Published articles in HaNesher (Tornoy 1933-1944) and Sha’arei Ora in Mihalevitz (1930-1934).
