Sefer Shnei Luchot HaBrit, one of the most important works in the Jewish library over the generations. By Rabbi Yeshayahu HaLevi Horwitz of Frankfurt. With the “Vavei Amudim” by Rabbi Shabtai Sheptil Horwitz, the author’s son, and indices “Toldot Adam”. Printed by Emmanuel ben Yosef Attias (Amsterdam, 1698).
Handsome edition which is a segula and known as “Shla Nachat [after the year of printing]”. The letters of the Rayatz of Lubavitch (Igeret vol. 2, #853) stated about this edition: “The year Nachat [1698] is an exceptional one. And a symbol of it is the reveal of this holy book, which caused “nachat” to the ruach above, and in that year the Baal Shem Tov was born. It is a public sign of the holiness of the Baal Shem Tov that he was born the same year as the publication of the Shla, to enlighten the world with the Torah’s light and Yirat Shamayim in the avodah of the heart.” Originally: [4], 422, 44, [12] leaves—this copy is missing the two title pages and 4 leaves from the end of the book (there is the title page of the Vavei Amudim).
Many worming holes, mainly in the binding and the first and last leaves, moisture stains, tape with missing text to a number of leaves, overall poor to fair condition.
