Lot 163:
Typewritten letter on official letterhead of the Rebbe (in English), from Erev Rosh Hashanah. He opens with blessings for a ketiva and chatima tova, blessings for the new year in gashmiyus and ruchniyus, and later writes: “Rosh Hashanah and the moadim following it are rich in mitzvot and holy minhagim and all Jews—man, woman, and child—find inspiration in these days.” Then he moves on to demand that one should not be satisfied with momentary transcendence but to see that the closeness of God and the closeness to the Torah will affect us throughout the year in order to inspire us to greater achievements in fulfilling our duty to God and man. He adds to the recipient of the letter: “First and foremost among these duties and achievements is surely your continuous and increasing participation in the sacred work of our institutions in the fields of education.”. He ends with a blessing for a sweet and good new year for the recipient and his family. Signs by hand in English.
