Signatures of ownership throughout the book of Rabbi Eliyahu HaKohenRabbin, who was rabbi of KiryatYovel in Jerusalem. Bound together with binding that is disconnected. Generally good condition.

Second edition. 105 drashot on the weekly parshiyot, at the end of which is his commentary on the Five Megillot. Rabbi Yitzhak Arama (1420-1494), known as the “Ba’alHaAkeida,” after this book, was a Spanish sage of the generation of the Expulsion. He was a rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Samora, northern Spain, and was the rabbi of Tarragona in southern Catalonia. Printed at the Juan Diga Venice printing house. First part of the book has dozens of glosses and corrections in Italian handwriting, probably from the period of the book’s printing (content not checked thoroughly). 308, 12 pages. Original leather binding, handsome, defective. Moth damage in parts of the pages, mainly the edges, with light damage to text.

On halachot Shabbat and Yom Tov, by RabbeinuShlomo ben Aderet—the Rashba. First edition brought to printing by Naftali ben Yosef, printed by Daniel Zaniti. Printed with the book Ba’aleiHaNefesh by the Ra’avad, but the copy before us only has AvodatHaKodesh. Old signatures on the cover and two old important notes in the book. 47 pages. Moth damage, rebound. Tears and various defects, tape on the cover. Generally ok to good condition.

Small volume (11cm), rare for its beauty, with discussion by Yochanan Mira. Special copy not found in libraries in Israel and appears never to have appeared in auctions. It seems to have been printed with errors, the two first pages and the last are defective—they only have the frames and decorations printed, but without the text, which is filled in by hand by an artist punctiliously according to the lines that were supposed to be included, including the line numbers and printing marks. 118 pages, unnumbered. The chapters are marked with numbers instead of letters, as well as the number of lines in each chapter. Corrections or translation done by pencil in Latin in a number of pages in the book. Some moth marks. Worn leather binding. Light stains.

“Produced at the order of the Commissariat of Minister IoanniVindramin of the IoanniMartinielli house.” Perfect copy in the original binding, preserved in rare condition, a volume of the 1639 Venice Tanach with commentary and translation into Ladino by Rabbi Yaakov Lombrozzo, endorsed by Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh of Modena. This copy has never been seen in auction houses in this condition, a complete copy with 4 covers, the complete original wooden binding, original decorations on the sides of the book on the pages. 4, 469, 2 pages. First cover is partially disconnected, a little wear on the cover, typical small folds and stains. Rare condition, complete and still pretty. The translator Rabbi Yaakov Lombrozzo was a sage of Venice during the reign of Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh of Modena, andshowed his knowledge of Hebrew grammar with his exegesis printed in Venice in 1630 (the cover of the Last Prophets has the year 1630 written while the others have 1639) on TAnach, and for the introduction he wrote before his commentary. He also copied the Kuzari into Spanish, and wrote a manuscript in Spanish called “Mesha’enetDatHaElokit” (History of the Italian Jewish Sages, p. 201).

Second section of Prophets from the Tanach, printed at the printing house of Yosef Atias ben Avraham Atias, in year “v’Haita Li HaMelucha”. In this year Shabtai Zvi reached Amsterdam and the printers hinted in the printing year the coming reign of the false prophet. The cover page has an engraved image of an eagle with an illustration of the reception of Shabtai Zvi with his turban entering Amsterdam. 155 pages. Abbreviations in Latin in the outer margins of every page. Many stains, no spine, binding disconnected, moth marks and small tears. Generally ok to good condition.

Nice copy of a small volume (16cm) of the Shulchan Aruch, with, added for the first time, the Be’erHaGola of Rabbeinu Moshe Ribkash, which was published by Dr. Rabbi Ephraim Boinoand Rabbi Yaakov Castillo, with their own money, in Amsterdam between 1661-1666. The connection between Rabbi Moshe (a Litvak) and the Dutch printers was able to happen as a result of Rabbi Moshe having spent a significant period of time in Rotterdam when he left Vilna (in Tammuz of 1655) as a result of the Khmelnytskyi pogroms. During his wanderings he reached Amsterdam and Rotterdam, where he stayed at the “Di Los Pintos” yeshiva, where Rabbi Yeshayahu Pardo led. This volume was printed by Yosef Atias in 1666. The colophon notes 1664. 486 pages. The copy before us is complete, no moth damage, but it is without binding, missing the front cover with copper opening inscription. Cover and first pages disconnected, decorations and gilding on the outside of the pages, light stains, generally very good condition.

With commentary of the Rama and Be’erHaGola. Cover with illustrations of the Jewish people at Mt. Sinai and receiving the Torah. Illustrations of angels and symbol of the printer, and more. Printed by Emmanuel ben Yosef Atias in 1698 (birthyear of the Ba’al Shem Tov). [1] 180 1 pages. Stains, original binding, generally very good condition.

Authored by Rabbi Yitzhak bar Avraham, first printed by the priest Johann Christoph Wagenseil in 1681, reprinted in Amsterdam in 1705. Polemical work against Christianity, and against the Christian claims regarding the Jewish religion. The author responds one by one to Christian claims against Judaism, including their attempt to prove their beliefs from the Holy texts, their claims regarding Jesus’s being Messiah, and more. On the cover is the signature of ownership of “Avraham YudaArbanzo…” The author of the book is the Karaite scholar Yitzhak bar Avraham of Troky (Lithuania). This is the only Karaite text accepted by the wider Jewish community, and was even translated into Yiddish because of its strongly worded criticism of Christianity. 120 pages (in the same year, a different edition was printed with 124 pages). 13cm. Binding and spine are disconnected and reinforced with glue, margins of the first pages are falling apart. Generally ok condition.

On the first page after the cover are endorsements of rabbis of Constantinople, Rabbi Avraham Kimchi, Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi, Rabbi HayyimAlfandery, and Rabbi Yehuda Rosanis. 2 ancient notes. 88 pages. Moth marks, tears and small stains. New binding. Generally good condition.

Commentary by RavShneorFeivush ben Yaakov, who was the grandson and great-grandson to Rabbi Moshe Isserlish of Krakow, Ra’avadGalogaRabbati in Poland, son-in-law of Rabbi Avigdor (from the endorsement of the commentary for the 6 Books of Mishnah given by Rabbi Shmuel Hillman Ra’avad of Mannheim). The name of the book was taken from a verse in Ecclesiastes. The printer is Israel ben Moshe. Original: 143-172, 175-462, [4] pages. 13cm. Four pages are missing here (167-172), and the cover page (unclear if there is one in the original?). Listing of ownership on the first and last pages. Original leather binding. A little moth damage. Generally ok to good condition.

With stamp at the end of the book (Sigmund Brile), the cover, and the page before it. With a pamphlet on Seder Gittin by Rav Michal RavYozef’sh of Krakow. Printer: Hirtz Levi Rofeh, and his son-in-law Kashman. [4], 176 pages. 19cm. Generally good condition.

By Rabb Yaakov Kuli, exegesis and midrash on the Tanach, PirkeiAvot, and the Pesach Haggadah, with additional short piskei halacha, in easy, low-level Ladino. First section of Exodus, Izmir 1864. First edition was printed with the Pesach Haggadah expounded upon in Ladino, with commentary in Ladino for Kiddush and Havdalah. 257 pages. Second section—Salonika 1803. 112 pages. Original binding, with small defects, inscription of the name in gold. Stains and small tears. Handsome copy, very good condition.

Books of Genesis and Deuteronomy, with Onkelos translation and Rashi’s commentary and some of the Tosafot. Same edition as printed in Amsterdam. Cover of Genesis has a stamp handwritten by “Aharon Moshe ben Yosef Shmuel Segel.” Printer: Yehiel Michal Maya. Deuteronomy doesn’t have a cover and has the last page of the Book of Numbers at the beginning. Original bindings. Very good condition.

Three complete, nice copies of mishnayot, Seder Nashim, Nezikin, and Teharot, printed in Dyhernfurth. This edition has, for the first time, notes printed during the lifetime of the author Rabbi Yeshayahu Berlin Pik. The cover notes his name with the suffix “Nero” while the edition published after already marks “zt”l” next to his name. 1. Nashim, cover partially has red lettering. Signatures not checked. 1, 159 pages. 2. Nezikin, 1, 196 pages. 3. Teharot. 1, 223 pages. Three volumes, bound with old bindings with a leather spine, gilded inscription made by an artist. No moth damage. Characteristic stains over time. Generally very good condition. The Gaon Rabbi YeshayaPik Berlin (1725-1799) was an Av Beit Din and Ram in Breslev. Known for his glosses on the Talmud Bavli printed in the volume of Talmud which began with the Dyhernfurth edition hear and his still printed today. His daughter Sarah was married to Rabbi Yosef Maya, Av Beit Din of Breslev, son of Rabbi Yehiel Michal (the publisher in Dyhernfurth), and he published these mishnayot and some more books by his father-in-law.

Midrash al Raboton Leviticus and Midrash Chazit on Song of Songs with the commentary Maspikv’Nechmad, as printed by Rabbi HaNaggidAMefursam Avraham Yehuda Leib Meir Hafer (son-in-law of the Rav of Svirtz). Signature of Asher ben Shlomo (?) and additional signatures and notes (Menachem Schwartz?), opening page has the note “written in remembrance of 3rd of Tammuz, ParshatChukat, year 1885, I became free of the army, Munkatch.” 1, 104 [page 96 and 104 onwards is missing], 96 [page 91 missing]. Some pages are blue, old binding is defective, stains, generally good condition.

Partially missing copy of a thick siddur in nusachAshkenaz, including prayers for weekday and shabbat, pesach Haggadah, LaMenatze’ach, Perek Shira, tikkunei Shabbat, and more, at the end with a separate cover is Psalms, and a separate cover for Ma’amadot, printed by Anon Shamid. No cover pages for the siddur, missing the first pages, page 2, and last page, and a number of pages in the number according to the noted page numbering: 1-160, 217-256, 135 pages. Old binding is defective, signs of use and stains, generally good condition.

Signature on the cover handwritten. 56 pages, 12*. Signatures of ownership on both of Rabbi Yaim Yitzhak Schwartz of Haifa, an important Gur Chassid. Older signatures of “BerilRosenfeld.” Page before the cover of AvodatHaKodesh has signatures of “Yisrael Rosenfeld” and “Eliezer Lipman Rosenfeld.” Signature of “Haim Zeev Kohen Shatin.” Generally good condition.

With Spanish copying, second section, printed in 1830. Two covers and an additional separate cover for part of Ketuvim. Each page is divided into two columns, one in Hebrew with vowels and one with Ladino translation. 359 pages. Small tears, stains, incorrect cutting by the printer on a number of pages. Generally very good condition.

Concordantiae on the Tanach by Yosef ben Yaakov Alsari, known as “Julius Pirset.” Cover in Hebrew and another in Latin. First text of its type, on the connection between the Hebrew language and the languages of the ancient peoples, written by a Jewish researcher. The author is Josef ben Yaakov Alsari, born in 1805 in Poland. Served as Professor in the University of Leipzig for Hebrew and other Semitic languages. He was known throughout the world by his research name “Julius Pirset.” This book was the first of its kind, apparently only a few copies of this huge print was publishedand this is the only edition that appears in its entirety (printed again in the twentieth-century without all the additions here). XII, 1428 pages, 35cm. Hebrew cover and Latin cover. Quality paper. Original leather binding, falling apart a little. Generally very good condition.
