Kvitl with the names of donors for blessing purposes, signed by the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn (Ruzhin), toward the end of his life.
A kvitl from Shvat 1948, with a list of donor names and the amount they gave. At the end is written by the gabbay: “everyone for physical health with their entire household and success and redemption alongside all of Israel”, with a signature of the rabbi: “The above total I received from Yisrael ben Mordechai Feivish.” The rabbi died the following year, and his shaky hand is evident from the signature. Size: 10x23cm. Defects and light tears in the margins, tape reinforcement on the back of the text, generally good condition.
Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn (1858-1949), the elder of the rebbes of the Ruzhin family, named after his grandfather the founder of the dynasty Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. In 1894 he was appointed to succeed his father as rebbe of Husiatyn and the thousands of disciples who had followed his father now accepted his authority. Toward the end of his life he immigrated to Israel and settled in Tel Aviv, where he established his court.
