Typewritten letter on official letterhead, from Av 1958, in Yiddish. At the beginning the Rebbe expresses satisfaction from the recipient’s work on behalf of Yiddishkeit, and then shows interest in her daughter and notes that she should listen to the doctor’s instructions, and blesses: “May Hashem fill her pregnancy with health and ease and may she give birth to a healthy child at the proper time and with ease”. At the end he gives a blessing to the recipient’s brother in Yiddish (handwritten addition) and “b’sha’ah tova u’mutzlachat u’lebinyan adei ad based in Torah and mitzvot, with blessings for besorot tovot.” Signed by the secretary Rabbi Eliyahu Quint “in the name of the Admor shlita.” As is well-known, many letters signed in the name of the secretary were actually signed by the Rebbe himself in the secretary’s name. Envelope, light stains, folding creases.
A pointillist portrait of the Rebbe of Lubavitch, depicted wearing his tefillin and wrapped in his tallit. Ink on hard paper. Size of the paper: 37x45cm.
