Lot, 3 tzedakah boxes of the BikurHolim hospital—Jerusalem, beginning of the 20th century.

Made of tin, with an opening at the top/back/bottom. With pictures of the institutions, inscription in Hebrew and English with the name, the goals of the institution. On one of them, the offices in New York are listed. On all three is an inscription in Yiddish noting that the founder was the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant. Large kuppah is dented at the top. Generally good condition.

Cover for a sefer torah “bein gavra lagavra.” Europe 1911.

In Bordeaux color, with embroidery of silver threads of a keter torah and a dedication: “from the generosity of the important women of the settlement of Welkovitz and the Galil, gathered by the Gabbay Rav Shraga Fuchs HaLevi, for the wedding of Marat Yehudit Tamashaf of Farnitza.” The cover is meant to cover the Torah between aliyot. | Generally good condition, 40x65cm.

Rare and unique item, a tallit made entirely from silk, including the tzitzit threads, given in a fabric case decorated with Japanese writing. Extremely rare. “Japan” is printed on it. Good condition.

A Collection of Two Printed Silk Cloths for Challah. Jerusalem, Early 20th Century

Lithographic printing on pink silk cloth. In the center of the cloth is the seven-branched Menorah, with the words “Lichvod Shabbat V’Yom Tov” above it. On both its sides is the blessing for candlelighting, and underneath it, a techina in Yiddish. In addition are the words of the piyut “Shalom Aleichem” and words of Kiddush for Shabbat and festivals. On the cloth’s four corners and center of the bottom section are pretty illustrations of holy sites in the Land of Israel. The printer’s name appears (on one of the cloths), in the bottom right corner: Monsohn Jerusalem.

Gelegentliches von Albert Einstein, first edition, limited edition, in honor of Einstein’s 50th birthday. The volume consists of a collection of excerpts from Einstein's writings on science, but also on history, politics, his generation, and topics such as the Jewish Question. The chapter “Nine Questions on Your Work” was published only here; it includes his answers to questions posed to him by a Japanese interviewer. On the first page is a portrait of Einstein. Published by Soncino, Berlin 1929. Different sizes and conditions, generally good condition.

Lot of three copies of the Haggadah Hariziya. Casablanca, 20th century.

Written in Arabic in Hebrew lettering. Story in Judeo-Arabic according to the order of the chapters of the Pesach haggadah. In the book “Bnei Melachim” Jerusalem 1989 (no. 573), it is noted that this composition was a protest document, authored probably by Rabbi David ben Masoud Danino (Bamad), against Amram of Lachriz, the neighboring town in southern Morocco. The protest was to demand the ousting of Amram from his role as administer of the aged community in Casablanca. 4 pages, 24cm. Folds, excellent condition.

Ketubah, printed on parchment. The Knesset Yisrael congregation [Ashkenazi liturgy], London. | The Ketubah is printed on parchment, on both sides. On the front is the regular wording in Hebrew, in the top part of the leaf are floral decorations, and in the center are the words: “Holy Congregation Knesset Yisrael – United Synagogue London” and two flower bedecked pillars on both sides of the Ketubah. Filled out by hand in the document: The groom’s name: Baruch Hirsch son of Moshe HaCohen. And the bride: Feiga daughter of Yitzchak. The Date: Tuesday, 19 Sivan 5672 [1912]. And the witnesses: Yisrael son of Yitzchak Rosenberg, Cantor. And Menachem son of Zvi HaCohen. Along the leaf on the left hand side are the names in English [to be used by the officiating Rabbi]. On the second side of the leaf is a copy of the Ketubah in English. Rare. 34x23 cm. Overall condition: Good.

Siddur and machzor according to the Polish tradition, in a large format, designed for Chazanim. In large letters, with exegeses, commentaries, and halachot. Includes: prayers for the weekday, for Shabbat, slichot for the whole Days of Awe, prayers for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, with all piyyutim and mizmorim. Includes the special prayers as traditionally done in Ashkenazi communities. At the end of the volume is a pamphlet of minhagim. Two covers, the first is entirely illustrated with a metal engraving, the name of the artist is printed at the bottom. Printed by the Segel brothers. Edited and glossed by Rabbi Zunviel Hannover. Bound, signature of ownership. [4] 390 (original had 380) pages. 34cm. Generally very good condition.

Printed sheet with the blessing for the Hanukkah candles, all three of them, in the style “these candles which we light,” “Mizmor Shir,” the page is outlined in a handsome and decorative framework, with the title framed by “these candles they are holy.” Printed by the Livorno printer, other than the year and “v’Torah” in Israel (1857). Size 31x43cm. Excellent condition.
