Signature of the Tzaddik and Mystic HaRav Yosef Waltuch. Signed twice.

Hotem Emet, Jerusalem 1947. On the enveloping cover and the title page of the book the Rav Yosef Waltuch has signed it twice. From Zlotshov, in his youth he lived in the Old City of Jerusalem and every days would secretly enter the Kabbalist yeshiva Beit El. In his sleep he understood and took notice of every idea quickly, and tended to write in every book that he completed “Mogah.” He would visit the graves of Tzadikim across Israel and would discover wonders and the souls of these Tzadikim, but he insisted never to go to Har Meron on Lag BaOmer to visit the Rashbi because there were always so many people. During one of his prayers it is said that he saw Rachel Imenu wrapped in black clothes. In Iyar 1983, he told his students he would return to Jerusalem and set out for the graves of Tzadikim in the Galil. When he left Har Meron he told his students that he didn’t feel well, asked for some soda water. When they bought it for him, he finished the blessing for it, fainted, was brought to the hospital in Tzfat, and he gave up his soul. New binding. Water stains.

Inside the anterior binding the Baba Sali wrote by hand the pasuk “May mountains bear peace to the nation, and hills—through righteousness” (Psalms 72:3). The page before the cover page has the handwritten signature and stamp “Yisrael Abuhatzira from Arpod and its surroundings” in Hebrew and the local language. Inside the rear binding Rabbeinu wrote by hand verses related to the Shalosh Regalim “with happiness and ditzot you will celebrate the Festival of Matzah [Pesach].” “On Shavuot you will sacrifice a new Minchah.” “In Sukkot you will dwell seven days.” With an elegiac ending, the Baba Sali asks from Hashem “The harvest follows summer and we have not yet been redeemed. You sentence the Redemption, may it be established.” In addition his handwritten signature appears again. The machzor has new leather binding glued on the original binding, and is engraved: “from the books of the Rav of the community of Sidna, Baba Sali.”
